Aging Poses New Challenges For Those With Special Needs

Vicki Ortez HEalty of the Chicago Tribune has written a great article about the challenges faced by people with special needs as they age.  The article notes that in 1983, the average life span of an individual with Downs Syndrome was 25 years.  Today, such a person can expect to live to 65 or 70, but the medical community is just starting to consider how skilled nursing facilities should best provide care for individuals with special needs.
